Citizen-led Renovation
Participant Briefing Document on Data Gathering
Thank you for participating in the initiative Citizen-led Renovation! This briefing document is dedicated to informing you about the project’s goals, the data generated and how the data will be used. Please read the text below carefully. If you have further questions, do not hesitate to ask the project team.
What is investigated and how?
The Citizen-Led Renovation initiative represents a transformative approach to energy efficiency and community engagement within the European Union. Born out of a growing recognition of the importance of local action in achieving broader environmental goals, this initiative places citizens at the heart of the energy transition. This comprehensive programme integrates building renovations and renewable energy solutions, leveraging the collective power and resources of local communities. The initiative’s primary focus is on empowering citizen groups, enabling the development of community-led energy projects, and providing technical support to realise these ambitions.
The coordinator of this initiative, Th!nkE, collaborates with several partners on this initiative. For a more detailed information, see the tables below.
More concrete, the survey you are contributing to has the goal to understand the problems, barriers, opportunities and scope of Citizen-led Renovation activities and to support the development of guidance for upscaling CLR initiatives.
What am I supposed to do as a participant?
The purpose of the survey is to gather insights from stakeholders on the scope and role of Citizen-led renovation (CLR) and to identify the key barriers—technological, financial, legal, regulatory, and societal—that hinder the implementation of CLR initiatives. This information will support to development a guidance document to overcome the barriers, upscale the CLR approach and thereby empower more citizens and organizations to actively participate in energy-efficient community renovations.
